Most people don't know Chrome can take a full page screenshot by itself. It can, and you don't need an extension for it. Here are two built-in ways, and one faster option for when you do this every day.

1. DevTools Command Menu

Open the page.

Ctrl+Shift+I (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Option+I (Mac) opens DevTools.

Ctrl+Shift+P / Cmd+Shift+P opens the Command Menu.

Type
screenshot
and pick Capture full size screenshot.

A PNG of the whole page lands in your Downloads folder.

In the same menu:

Capture screenshot captures the visible part only.

Capture area screenshot lets you drag a box.

Capture node screenshot captures the element selected in the Elements panel.

If images come out blank, the page probably loads them on scroll. Scroll to the bottom and back up, then capture again.

2. DevTools device mode (mobile widths)

Open DevTools and press Ctrl+Shift+M / Cmd+Shift+M for the Device Toolbar.

Pick a device or choose Responsive and enter a width.

Reload, then open the toolbar's three-dot menu and choose Capture full size screenshot.

Device presets often use a device pixel ratio of 2 or 3, which multiplies the image's pixel size. Set it to 1 for exact dimensions.

3. One click with an extension

Disclosure: I'm part of the RATdeck team, which makes Capture.

The DevTools route is great for a one-off. If you capture pages every day and need to mark them up, Capture by RATdeck turns it into one click:

Ctrl+Shift+1 (Command+Shift+1 on Mac) for a full page. It scrolls, stitches and opens the result in an editor.

Ctrl+Shift+2 for the visible screen, Ctrl+Shift+3 for a selected area.

Pick scroll area for chats, tables and sidebars that scroll inside the page. One element for a single card or chart.

Sticky headers aren't repeated down the image. Very tall pages are saved as ordered parts.

Responsive presets from 1440 down to 360 px, and a 3/5/10 second delay.

An editor with arrows, shapes, text, highlighter, crop, and blur/pixelate for private details.

Copy, or download PNG, JPG or WebP. Unlimited on Free, with no watermark and no ads.

Everything runs in your browser, and normal screenshots aren't uploaded. Pro is optional at \(3/month or \)12/year and adds PDF export, bulk URL capture and comparison tools.

Note: no extension can capture
chrome://
pages or the Chrome Web Store, because Chrome blocks this. For incognito, enable "Allow in incognito".

Quick pick

Once in a while: DevTools → Ctrl+Shift+P → "screenshot".

Responsive checks: DevTools device mode, or an extension with width presets.

Daily, with markup: an extension that opens straight into an editor.
